General Stonewall Jackson

Lee's right arm. Hero of First and Second Bull Run, Chancellorsville and the Valley Campaign. Jackson was a believer in the flanking movement, secrecy, rapid maneuvering of troops and pursuing his enemy when he had them on the run. He was a devout Presbyterian and was one of the more idiosyncratic historical figures of the war.

Graduated from West Point, fought in the Mexican War, Jeff Davis served as Senator and as Secretary of War. He later served as the first president of the Confederacy.

Was the eyes and ears for the Army of Northern Virginia. Carried a LeMat Revolver. Famous for his two rides around the Army of the Potomic and for assuming command of Jackson's troops at Chancelorsville!

General James Longstreet

One of Lee's Lieutenants who fondly called Longstreet "My old Warhorse". Commander of the First Corp of the Army of Northern Virginia, he turned the Union flank at Chickamauga, and again in the Wilderness. He mangaged a smashing victory on Mayre's Heights at Fredericksburg and Second Bull Run. A believer in defensive tactics he warned Lee at Gettysburg on two occassions that his tactics would not result in victory. After the war, Longstreet was made a scapegoat by Genrls. Pendleton and Early. Only recently are historians putting his vision and accomplishments in proper historical light.

General Ambrose E. Burnside

Commanded the Army of the Potomic at the battle of Fredericksburg. He was removed from command after his defeat but served as a corp commander in the Army of the Potomic.

With his hat on the point of his sword, General Armistead led his brave Virginians over the wall during Pickett's charge at Gettysburg.

General Phillip H. Sheridan

Little Phil saw action in the West and in Virginia. Turned the Lee's flank at Five Forks. He was Grant's JEB Stuart.

General George Armstrong Custer

The leader of a brigade knicknamed "the Wolverines" Custer was promoted to major general and the helm of the Third Cavalry Division when he was only twenty-four. Custer's war record is one of an excellent leader and fighter. His uniform was a black velvet jacket, sailor shirt, red cravat, and floppy sombrero. The red cravat became a badge of honor and was worn by his troopers who loved their boy general.

Colonel Joshua Chamberlin

Col. Chamberlin rushed the 20th Maine to Little Round Top to protect the Union flank from Longstreet's corp. He held his position against a furious fight led by Alabama's finest. Later was promoted by General Grant to a General Officer and became President of Bedoin College after the war.

Admiral Farragut

The Union's Nelson. Commanded the naval attack on New Orleans and Mobile Bay. "Damn the Torpedos, full steam ahead!" Looks good with some of the diaramas of Naval ships. The Confederates wore the same uniforms so works for both sides!

Major General John Buford

A cavalry man who arrived first a Gettysburg and slowed the rebel advance in time for Reynold's to arrive. The ultimate result was Lee fought on ground not of his choosing.

Famous Georgian General who was wounded 6 times defending the sunken road at Antietam. Also turned the federal flank in the Wilderness. After the war was a Governor of Georgia.

The hero of Sumter and Bull Run. Was an excellent engineer who defended Charleston from the Yankee siege. Was hated by Jeff Davis

Colonel Robert G. Shaw

Shaw led the 54th Mass against Battery Wagoner on Morris Island, S.C. He was killed and buried with his soldiers. His story is well told in the movie "Glory".
